A child's growth is dependent on the nurturing of their roots
Our mission is to support each child’s holistic development by addressing their unique social, emotional, cognitive, and physical needs—inspiring confident, engaged, and active learners. Our interest-led curriculum and supportive environment empower learners to thoroughly investigate their curiosities while seamlessly integrating the academics needed for school readiness.
Believe it or not, but 90% of a child's brain development occurs by age 5! Early childhood experiences and relationships do more than prepare children for school; they physically shape the brain connections that control future health, behavior, and learning.
We view every child as a unique individual with distinct ideas, values, interests, and learning styles. Recognizing children as naturally curious beings, we honor their ability to learn at their own pace and in their own way. We prioritize autonomy, providing rich opportunities for students to explore their world. Our interest-led curriculum and supportive environment empower learners to thoroughly investigate their curiosities. Outdoor education remains a cornerstone of our program; our large, natural playground offers ample space to play, explore, and connect deeply with the natural world.
Every childcare center is unique, but as a small, family-owned school, Inch by Inch offers something special. We aren't bound by rigid corporate rules. Instead, we focus on genuine personal connections and progressive, research-based learning that truly fits your child's needs.
At Inch by Inch we prioritize quality care through lower-than-average ratios. Here, your child is surrounded by dedicated educators who genuinely love what they do, and a management team committed to supporting both families and staff. We are not only a team of teachers, we are a community! Beyond our passion for childcare, we invest heavily in ongoing teacher training to give your child every tool for success.
Best of all, our team truly loves being here. This means your child benefits from stable, consistent relationships with familiar faces every day!
Unfortunately, our kitchen is not equipped to cook full meals. We provide a hearty breakfast snack and an afternoon snack. Students bring lunch from home.
Our primary curriculum is HighScope. Our educators develop custom curriculum, based on the student interests and areas of skill development. Our curriculum is designed to support and build skill sets in the following areas:
approaches to learning, social and emotional development, physical development and health, cognitive development, language, literacy, and communication, mathematics, creative arts, science and technology, and social studies.
At Inch by Inch, we are proud to maintain low ratios. In our Transition classroom we have 10 students with 3 staff. In our preschool classes, we keep a 1:7 ratio, and often maintain lower.
During late Spring and Summer we have 3 scheduled outdoor times. During Fall and Winter, we have 2 scheduled outdoor times. On days when weather is a factor, we still make every effort to go outdoors at least once.
Absolutely. We believe that children gain skills in all developmental areas, whether inside or outside. Since children construct knowledge through experiences with the world and the people around them, learning occurs in various domains!
